The Basics Regarding How To Play Bass Guitar

Are you ready to start learning how to play bass guitar? You’ve come to the right place! The great thing about bass guitar is that it’s a relatively simple instrument to learn, yet the power it gives a song is undeniable.

You may not directly hear it in a lot of songs unless you try, but you’d sure notice the difference if someone took the bass out. In my opinion the bass guitar is the most important instrument in a bands line-up. Period.

Most, if not all of them now come with a fretted neck. So basically you don’t have to try to memorize the exact position of certain notes. The frets dictate the differences in sound, and where you have to place your fingers.

When someone asks me how to play bass guitar, I always tell them “Don’t buy one yet, you need to make sure your hands are accustomed to the kind of positions you’re going to put them in”.
Once you’ve nailed that, you’re on for a winner, and playing your bass guitar would be so much easier. The best way to accomplish this is to lift your hand parallel to the floor, as if you were looking directly at it. Now, raise each finger in succession, once at a time. Keep doing this until it hurts, and try to get progressively faster.

Next, strap your bass guitar around your neck – You know how to do it, just take a look at the top bands in the world! Hold the neck of the guitar with your left hand (don’t do it the other way around, the strings will be in a complete opposite order). Put your thumb on the E string, then put your index and middle finger on the D string. Pluck each of these strings in order. Keep doing this until you can do it whilst asleep or watching TV!

Now I know that was a very basic introduction, but it’s hard to cram it all into an article like this. If you want to learn bass guitar and learn it fast, I recommend this one course.
